‘Rainbow Serpent’ Point Cook, Melbourne Victoria

This Mural is 37 metres long and painted by hand on a road, Murnong Street, Point Cook which is used as a Pop-up Park for special events and festivals by the local community. These events are organised by CoLocal a Not for Profit organisation in collaboration with Stockland.

We chose the theme of the Rainbow Serpent for its strong connection to the Aboriginal community and because of the strong diverse community of Point Cook. The Rainbow Serpent is of course made up of many different colours, and so representing the diversity of the local community. It has been so great working alongside community members and Colocal Founder and project coordinator Sara Mitchell. Sara has been a hands-on leader throughout the project and an inspiration.

We would still be painting the road if it weren’t for all their assistance. Thanks also to the cleaners who were always helpful and assisting in getting the surface ready each day so we could paint.
